Eden Park Link Lane,

This interesting project involved the inclusion of an 80 year old native 'Titoki' tree in the entrance to Eden Park, host to the Rugby World Cup Final in 2011.

The historic Titoki tree holds centre stage of a new laneway providing a direct pedestrian link to the entrance of the stadium. It was necessary to preserve the tree as part of the design without compromising surrounding paving. Excavation was meticulous, given the volcanic rock shelf and also the need to provide premium growing conditions for the majestic tree. Arborgreen Structural Soil Cells were fitted around the tree to enable it to thrive and expand its root system without causing unnecessary damage in the future to the themed paving.

Four years on in May 2015 we visited this site again to find the tree in thriving condition with no compromise to any surrounding paving or plantings.
