Invercargill City Streets Upgrade, Invercargill, New Zealand

The City Streets Upgrade - Don and Esk Streets is the beginning of a more attractive city centre that makes people want to visit and spend time in the heart of Southland. Streets, footpaths and public space upgrades will create connections that make sense of the city centre and invite people to stay awhile.

The redevelopment of Don and Esk Streets in 2021/22 will form the heart of the central city, and connect the Invercargill Central Limited, HWR Tower and Langlands Hotel developments with high quality streets for people. Changes to vehicle circulation and the opening of ICL’s 700-spot carparking building will enable greater use of these streets by people on a daily basis, increasing footfall by parking once and filtering through the city.

Citygreen's Stratavault system was used extensively in this project to enable trees to be planted in paved areas, and where services needed to be protected.
